SPLAT Kids win XPSL Oceanside!

Nov 12th, 2007
With victories in half a dozen leagues including the NPPL, SCXL, Riot, and Bear's Cup, we have also been considered one of the top XPSL teams since we started playing in their events last year, however, getting a 1st place victory in the XPSL has managed to elude us a few times. With a good showing at the PSP World Cup and tired of 2nd place XPSL finishes, we headed to the XPSL Oceanside finale pumped and ready to go.

After a less than steller prelims round where we only managed to win half of our eight matches, we went on to beat Destiny in the Elite 8 and won a decisive 1 on 1 against Recluse in the Semi's to put us into the finals againt G4H (Guns for Hire), a team that gives us all we can handle everytime we come up against them.

Thanks to some great field walking about team coach Glenn Forster, we won back to back games against G4H, giving us our first XPSL victory ever, let alone a end of the year XPSL Championship. Kudo's to Shawn Walker and staff for putting on a local regional event that could compare to the big leagues in terms of location and professionalism. Check them out at www.xpsl.com. Cya guys at Commanders Cup!

SPLAT Kids back from World Cup

Oct 29th, 2007
Were back from our first ever trip to the World Cup in Orlando where we entered the Div. 3 division, which we were suprised to find out had the most number of teams of any division at the World Cup that year with over 84 teams including ourselves signed up. After a great number of opening matches throughout the first days of competition were we won all of our games, we finally dropped a game to team Speed Dirty RNT (Who ended up winning the whole thing), which knocked us out of moving on to the top four. Too bad that one game decided our whole fate, but we were still happy that in just two PSP Xball competitions this year we managed to come in 3rd (LA Open) in a large field, and in 7th here, in what could possibly be the most # of teams in one division ever.

Congrats to all the winners and to the PSP for putting on one of the smoothest championship events ever, made even more amazing when you consider it was the largest tournament attended team-wise, EVER! Check out more PSP info at www.pspevents.com

Kansas Karnage

Sep 26th, 2007
NPPL Kansas was another great event. Normally were use to seeing a lack of effort on the part of the promoters this late into the season as they gear up for the championship event, but that was not so with the NPPL KC event. With finals held inside a air-conditioned stadium for the first time in NPPL history, it was a great sign of things to come and just another reason why SPLAT Kids play the NPPL. After winning Huntington Beach and coming in 3rd in Boston we had hoped to do better in Kansas, as we could just not get up the momentum to make any big plays happen. We won Commanders Cup last year, and we don't plan on giving up the title without a fight. We'll be there in October! www.nppl.tv

Fun in Fresno

Aug 15th, 2007
SPLAT Kids are back from the XPSL Fresno event and as usual Shawn Walker is doing a great job running the bet regional league on the west coast. The venue was outstanding and the competition as always is the best out there. Unfortunately we weren't able to make it to the top four on this stop, but with a few new additions to our team and lots of timem to practice, things are looking good for our squad when we roll into the final XPSL of the year in Oceanside. See you there! www.xpsl.com

SPLAT Kids take 3rd in NPPL Boston

Aug 1st, 2007
If you haven't noticed the trend, SPLAT Magazine's very own SPLAT Kids have been coming in the top four in the vast majority of major events they've played in for the 2007 season. Trying to keep the streak of success alive, the SPLAT Kids headed over to the NPPL Boston event with the newest addition to the team, Bronson Puppos.

After 8 prelim games, the SPLAT Kids moved into the quarter-finals in 1st place in Division 2, not to mention being the only team in any division to win all their prelim games. In the Sweet 16 Quarter-finals the SPLAT Kids took down Method-X in a best of three match, and then moving on to bet the 187 crew in two straight games to move on into the semi-finals.

In the Semi's the SPLAT Kids won one of their three games, but dropped the other two (It would be the only two games lost all event for them), which put them up against STD Factory to see who would come in 3rd or 4th. The SPLAT Kids finished the event strong, winning both finals games against STD, and taking 3rd for the event. Next up, the Kids are preparing for their trip to Kansas City, and currently sit in 2nd place overall in Div. 2 of the NPPL. For more info on the NPPL, visit www.nppl.tv

X Marks the Spot

SPLAT Kids give the competition heatstroke, taking 2nd at XPSL San Jose.
July 1st, 2007
Getting ready to take to the fields in Boston to try and repeat their NPPL HB win, the SPLAT Kids headed up to the XPSL San Jose event to get in some grade A tournament competition and test their skills against teams that don't always show up in the NPPL. With 16 of the best west coast teams entered into the Novice division, the XPSL continues to prove itself as a hub for high end tournament paintball in the US.

The SPLAT Kids won all but one of their prelim games, sending them into Sunday ranked 1st overall. On Saturday the Kids had the day off, taking the time to relax while some teammates including Tom C. and Eric A. took up quick one-day reffing gigs to earn some extra coin.

When Novice play resumed on Sunday the SPLAT Kids continued to dominate their brackets all the way up til the finals battle for 1st and 2nd where they dropped both games, taking 2nd for the event. After placing 3rd in their last XPSL event this year, the SPLAT Kids will continue to play in the remainding two events, hoping to nab a XPSL victory before the year is out. On the Floor in Florida

June 27th, 2007
The second stop of the NPPL rolled into Tampa and the SPLAT Kids, fresh off a major win at the NPPL Huntington Beach, rolled right in along with it. The level of profesionalism at these NPPL events is why this league is quickly becoming the competition of choice for the SPLAT Kids, giving them an opportunity not just for national exposure, but for world-class competition. After winning 7 of their 8 prelim games the SPLAT Kids moved on to Sunday in 4th place. A repeat victory was not in the cards however as some setbacks led to the Kids dropping their quarter-final games, sending the team home before they had a chance to go back to back. Right now the Kids sit in 4th place overall in Division 2 and are actively planning and preparing to make a return to the top four at the next event in Boston. Cya there!

SPLAT Kids take 3rd at San Bernadino XPSL

May 8th, 2007
The SPLAT Kids are continuing to roll along in the tournament world, following up their 3rd place LA Open Xball and 1st place NPPL Huntington Beach victory with another 3rd place finish at the second stop of the popular So. Cal based XPSL series.
The SPLAT Kids were unable to attend the first XPSL due to practice conflicts they needed to undertake to prepare for the NPPL.

During Friday's prelimenary games the Kids dropped only a single game, winning seven of their eight games, heading into Sunday in 3rd place. Other teams moving on to the next round including popular So. Cal teams such as Drama, Dark Image, Destiny, and long time SPLAT Kids rivals, Vegas Heat.

In the Quarter-Finals the SPLAT Kids quickly won all three of their games, posting the second highest score behind Destiny. After some close games in the finals though the SPLAT Kids had to settle for 3rd after beating Destiny in a best of 3 match, while Dark Image went on to beat X-Bomb for 1st.

The SPLAT Kids will be attending the remaining three XPSL's of the season and would like to thank Shawn and Rufina Walker and the rest of the XPSL staff for another great event. To learn more about the XPSL series, visit www.xpsl.com

The Throw Heard Round the World

April 6th, 2007
Have you seen what many are calling the most exciting piece of paintball TV footage in the last 5 years? During the Div. 2 fi nals at the NPPL Huntington Beach event, our very own SPLAT Kid Spencer Neveux found himself without a working marker (ASA-line went down) during game 3. In a tense 2 on 1 situation, Spencer took a handful of paint out of his hopper and ran down the last Throttle player, who was busy trading off shots with SPLAT Kid Josh Arreguin, heaved the paint, and broke 3 balls on the Throttle players mask. A legal elimination? Not quite, but since the Throttle player was called out during his exchange with SPLAT Kid Josh, that left Spencer to hang the flag and secure the Div. 2 HB Championship for the SPLAT Kids.

SPLAT Kids WIN Div. 2 at NPPL Super 7 Huntington Beach!!!

April 6th, 2007
Since winning the Div. 3 NPPL OC Commanders Cup during the 06 season, our SPLAT Kids trained hard during the off season to prepare for the bump up to Div. 2 for 2007. The training appears to have paid off, as SPLAT Magazine’s SPLAT Kids have pulled out a 2nd major NPPL victory, taking 1st place in Division 2 at the Super 7 Huntington Beach event, beating out 61 other teams for the honor. See the now infamous final game “paint throw” footage HERE.
